On 29 November 2024, UNPA will issue a special event sheet to commemorate the 40th FIAP Asian International Stamp Exhibition in Shanghai, China.
The sheet is composed of three stamps in the denominations of $1.65, CHF 2,50 and € 1,90 depicts illustrations form the popular Chinese novel “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” as follows:
$1.65 – “Poem of Short Song “, which tells the story of Cao Cao writing a poetry to express his emphasis on valuing talent and his concern for the development of the nation and its people.
CHF 2.50 – “Making Strategy at Longzhong”, which tells the story of Zhuge Liang discussing his strategic plans, showcasing his high wisdom and strategic thinking.
€ 1.90 – ” Loyalty Spirit of Spring and Autumn Annals,” which depicts Guan Yu’s loyalty and bravery.
The background of the sheet shows the Changjiang (Yangtze) River flowing eastward, originating from a poem, which was later adapted into a song. Shanghai is located at the mouth of the river.
The artwork on the stamps were illustrated by the popular Chinese artist Yunzhong Li. Mr. Li also illustrated the 2016 “The Monkey King Legend” UNPA special event sheet which was based on the character from the “Journey to the West” Chinese novel for the 33rd Asian International Stamp Exhibition in Nanning, China, which sold out.
The sheets are consecutively numbered 1 – 17,000.
