Description
On 22 October 2026, UNPA will issue 3 stamps to commemorate International Volunteer Year. The International Volunteer Year (IVY) 2026 commemorative stamp serves as a global tribute to the 2.1 billion volunteers whose time, skills and commitment strengthen communities and advance sustainable development around the world each month. Issued in recognition of the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, the stamp symbolizes the enduring spirit of solidarity, civic engagement and collective action that volunteerism inspires across countries and generations. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2026 as the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development through resolution 78/127, recognizing volunteerism as a powerful force for achieving sustainable development and calling on Member States, United Nations entities, civil society, academia and the private sector to celebrate and promote volunteer action at national, regional and global levels.
Building on the legacy of previous international efforts to elevate volunteerism, the commemorative stamp highlights the vital contribution of volunteers to peace, development and community resilience. It also celebrates the dedication and impact of volunteers, whose actions help build stronger communities and a better future for all.
